Kite flying afternoon ...

All the cousins together in Redwood City -- beautiful day by the SF Bay for kite flying.  Shane (5 yr-old) was happy with his kite!

Carlsbad Flower Fields

This was an older photo taken this spring at the Flower Fields.  Last night I was exploring some of the different apps on my iPhone and came up with this version.  What do you think?

Hazel an art gallery

About 1-1/2 years ago my granddaughter was visiting (when I lived in Sacramento area) and we went the Crocker Art Gallery.   We enjoyed seeing all the art, including the sculpture gallery.  I've always liked this photo of her admiring one of the sculptural piece.  She decided her favorite art pieces were the more contemporary ones.   This was originally taken with the iPhone and today worked in a new app - Pixlromatic.

A visit to San Diego's mission

Back of the bell tower.

I met my friend Terry at the Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala for a photo day.  It is California's First Mission.
Here are a three of my favorite photos from the day.

Orchids

Another iPhone shot, this was taken last spring at the Carlsbad flower fields.   I recently tried out some new apps and liked the "frame" from this one (but can't remember the name!).  I need to start writing down which one I'm using ...

New meaning to "sailing around the world"

Sailing around the world
I had taken this photograph last October with my "real" camera, then made it to a panorama and had it on my iPhone Camera Roll.  It was one I had posted here:   2010PhotoBlog.

I was playing around with an app on the iPhone called TinyPlanet yesterday, used the panorama shot of the Snipe sailboats, cropped it a bit and liked this shot.

Those apps are so much fun!

Sunset with moon rise ...

Unusual sunset for North county San Diego.  A slight foggy haze at sunset, plus these gorgeous skies and a rising almost-full moon.

This was shot with my iPhone, then processed with Filterstorm app (mainly for frame).

Bodie CA

Hipstamatic app

Hipstamatic, Salvadore camera
Several months ago I was able to stop in Bodie CA on my way to Reno NV.  It's off Hwy 395, fairly easy 13-mile drive  during the summer (except when they do road repairs!).   I had fun with the Hipstamatic camera app on my iPhone and liked these two versions of the old Shell Gasoline sign.

The Salvadore camera produces unpredictable results -- I liked this one of the sign.

PS:  Thanks to friend Kerrie, who identified the beautiful white flower in my last post.  It's called a Carissa macrocarpa.

More flowers from the iPhone

Honeysuckle

The flower on the left is found on well-pruned bushes in my neighborhood.  The green berries are starting to turn red.  I don't know the name, but will find out at the next trip to the nursery (unless someone reading this knows what it is).

The honeysuckle is growing wild up a hill along the path.  So much fun walking with my iPhone  ;-)

Pano from MBYC

I'm hanging out with my grandsons at Mission Bay Yacht Club.  One is busy in sailing camp, the other busy on shore.  I had some time to snap this panorama of the area before it got busy.  Love the big puffy clouds!   It's been a beautiful day.   I used an app called Auto-Stitch to stitch the 5 shots together.  Not bad for my iPhone.
